Chillingham Castle - Chillingham, Northumberland NE66 5NJ Grade 1 listed building - English Heritage Building ID: 237509 The castle was originally a monastery in the late 12th century. Castle. C14 with C17, C18 and C19 alterations. In courtyard, early C17 two-storey addition John Patterson and Sir Jeffrey Wyatville did work in early C19. Late C19 service wing to left. During the Second World War, the castle was used as an army barracks. In 1982, the castle was purchased by Sir Humphry Wakefield, 2nd Baronet.
