This shop on the corner was the last old building to be demolished. It was called 'Patrick Shop'. I took my young son in there in the early 1970s and it was like stepping back to the early 1900s. |

This Fabricated metal building was where the Coal Trucks entered to empty their contents onto a conveyor belt, then taken down to fill the waiting coal ships. |

The Foster Blackett Lead Works . The white dust would land on the roof of the Hotel nearby called 'The Royal Hotel' , but nicknamed 'The White Lead' because of all the dust.
No health and safety in those days. How many people died of lead dust poisoning? |
