Site of Munitions Huts, Tinsley. They are still shown on the OS map of 1948, so must have been demolished very soon after, as the ground has been cleared on this photograph.
The Munitions Huts were built during WW1 to house workers are the ammuntions factories in Hadfields, East Hecla and Firths, Templeborough. They were meant to last 3 years, but stood for almost 30! |
