Mulliners the coachbuilders. The company was started by Herbert Hall (HH) Mulliner of the famous coachbuilding family in the centre of Birmingham but the company grew and took over a number of works in Bordesley. They were the coachbuilders for Calthorpe cars and Louis Antweiler headed both companies, eventually rationalising his interests into one company, Mulliners in the late twenties. There is an area of parked cars between the Mulliner and Calthorpe works, presumably part of their coachbuilding output. |

The Calthorpe car manufacturing works. Founded by George William Hands in 1904, the company finally stopped producing cars in 1928, two years before this photograph was taken but the factory still bears their name at this time. |
