Hi Wonomma. I think the Providence Chapel was at the other end of Grange Street, on Elder Road. |

I started at this school in the mid 1950s when I was 4. I think the headmistress was Ms. Evans and my teacher was Ms. Shirley. When we arrived in the morning we all had a teaspoon of cod-liver oil followed by a small glass of orange juice. I remember trying to make model cars, tanks, aeroplanes etc. out of old cereal boxes, toilet rolls, tape, cardboard etc, as well as the usual numbers and writing practice. In the afternoon we all rested on small fold up beds and when the sun shone we lay on our beds in the playground with our sun hats on. We never used any form of sun cream. |

Hi Johnxyz, yes, Providence Chapel tag is in wrong position here, it should indeed be at the other end of Grange Street. Couldn't see how to move it after dropping it in the wrong place! :-) Anyone know when Prov Chapel was actually knocked down? |
