| The Morris works - originally Hotchkiss - later government offices. This wing was the Inland Revenue and burned down in either 1966 or 67 - people were dancing in the street! The other wing, that faces onto Gosford St, became the DHSS office until around 1989-90 when it was closed and later redeveloped as part of Coventry University. |

There were two fires eighteen months apart, one in 1964 and one in 1966. The first fire struck the inland revenue section and the second fire an army surplus store. |
