| Portabelo Lane. In the 1950s I used to watch glass blowers here. The works was just further up from the Ropery. The workers had huge lumps of molten glass on the end of the blow tube. This tube was then stuck out of a half door into the lane while the blowers shaped it, and us kids just yards away watching and vehicles passing by. Health and safety. Huh its for whimps. It's actually a bit further down from the marker, nearer the Ropery. The works with the large chimney |
