A couple of steam locomotives downgraded to stationary boilers to provide steam for heating the coaches. Note the very high extension pipes in the chimneys.

This area has become the Metrolink tram depot "Queens Road"

Now the Metrolink tram track to Oldham and Rochdale

This double track runs from Manchester to Bury - the black line between the tracks is the wooden covering for the unique side contact electric third rail. When this was time expired, its unique quality led to this line being converted to light rail- the first route for Manchester Metrolink Trams. The curve leading to the line going to the bottom of the picture was decommissioned and the line going off the bottom was taken up. This curve and line are now a further part of the tram network, leading to Oldham and then Rochdale.

Both of the tracks leading off to the left are going to Manchester Victoria station. This one and the one below about half way up the edge.
