In this approximate area is a site known as Trench Hall Castle Stead, rumoured to be a Roman Fort. Remains found however are medieval / Tudor, and "Castle" may be a corruption of "Cattle". Now well ploughed and no remains on surface. Also referred to as "Trench Castlegate". Possible location of a post-medieval house. |
