Plenty of candidates in this photo, especially among the road repair gang. Two people are crossing the road in front of the hotel and appear to be looking up, as does the figure in the upstairs window.

The Crown Hotel - a splendid example of Art Deco. Still standing in 2008 and functioning as a pub. The Home Ales text survives in the façade: see photograph by Alan Murray-Rust on the Geograph site:
