I think that this is the large area that was later re-developed and thereafter submerged beneath the new Queen Elizabeth 2nd Reservoir in the late 1950's - and that the area was Mc.Alpine's prewar preparation site of same from late 1930's up to circa 1958 - halted due to WW2 outbreak. We, as children, used to jump from one huge water pipe to the next - some of these pipes, dumped together in huge quantities on this land, were 15 feet or so high, and of enormous length and diameter - our parents would have had fits if they had known we were regularly playing on them....I never heard of anyone having an accident though, fortunately. Great days!

On second thoughts, this is more likely to be the old Walton Road, joining the Hurst Road at App's Court, where it then leads on into Walton on Thames.

I think this is the Walton Road, joining the Hurst Road near App's Court, then traveling onwards towards Walton as Terrace Road.

A beautiful row of Elms - something never to be seen nowadays.

So sad that all of these beautiful Elms were lost either to later development or Dutch Elm disease in the 1970's. Great loss.
