Land acquired by Leaman Homes in 1966 from the charity Guide Dogs For The Blind which heralded the beginning of what has become a huge development. I helped to survey this land which was hugely expensive to develop and bankrupted the company three years later.

Kings Asphalt (as was), later Colas, The Corrugated shed remeins to this day (2013). The land the other (south) side of the track was bought from the GWR in 1937 by Garton & King who had their new foundry erected there in 1938, opened 1939.

Railway sidings. I wonder if these railway trucks and sidings relate to the sawmills beside?

St Thomas station thronged with people waiting to catch the train for a day out at Dawlish Warren and beaches beyond. I can still recall the excitement and noise almost fifty years later.

The County Ground home of Exeter Rugby Club and Exeter Speedway in 1933. Close examination reveals the speedway track, lighting and the hooped goalposts of the rugby club. The stadium was unchanged until the sale for housing and closure 2005.
