Garton and King's foundry, relocated here in 1938 or 1939 from Waterbeer Street in the centre of Exeter. The old premises were compulsorily purchased by the City Council to be part of a new Civic Centre, and is now part of the Guildhall shopping centre. For a history of Garton and King which traces the business back to the 17th century, see http://www.exeterfoundry.org.uk/index.php |

Private siding leading to extensive livestock pens. Was this the site of Exeter's cattle market prior to its move further in to Marsh Barton? |

This photograph is not of Alphington but of Exeter itself. The NGR confirms the location. The area is Exeter is St. Thomas. At the time the photograph was taken Alphington as a separate village outside the City of Exeter. |
