The 1896 built bridge still appears to be in use. This replaced the 1810 built Iron Bridge damaged, in 1887, when a collier collided with it. The new concrete bridge just above was opened in 1934. Soon after this image was taken. |

This was not only slum clearance, but to provide space for the elevated 'Silvertown Way' to improve road communications with the docks and local industries. |
