In these woods was a pond commonly known to kids in the early 50's as Shakles (possibly Shackles) lake, probably an old brick pit the shakles family ran many brick pits in local area especially along the canal. |

Used to be or was going to be part of an ammunition filling station that filled an area from here all along North Hyde Road to the Watersplash Lane and all of the Cranford Estate. Also on this corner was built the Dunlopillow warehouse later storage units, lane to left is now Nestles Avenue. |
