There could be 100+ empty coal wagons here being hauled northwards, back to the Derbyshire/Yorkshire coal fields by a Beyer-Garratt locomotive. Twice the power meant twice the load, could be tricky when trying to stop such a load with no brakes on these wagons!

A Beyer Garrat locomotive. In effect two loco's in one, a boiler suspended between two power bogies. Apart from one other example, these locos only worked this line hauling 100+ wagons carrying coal. This link will explain more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_Garratt
