The railway station was opened by the Midland Railway in 1857, and was closed by British Railways in 1962. |

Opened 1857 to link to the GN at Hitchen to obtain a route into London. But the GN did not give much cooperation, and in 1868 the MR opened its 'London Extension' from Bedford direct to their new station at St Pancras. This line then became a branch line, and was eventually closed by BR in 1962. |
