| Airport building and this control tower date from 1928. The airport was closed to civil aviation in 1939 and used by RAF Fighter Command. Following World War II air traffic began to re-locate to Heathrow, with longer runways, etc. The last civil flight from Croydon was on 30 September 1959 |

| F-FHMY. Is this the Farman F.63bis Goliath owned by Air Union? If so the plane suffered a structural failure of the starboard tailplane on the 200 mile flight from Le Bourget to Croydon on 10 February 1930. Two passengers were killed and two others wounded together with two crew members when the pilot made an emergency landing. The plane was a write off |
