The first house built in what would be Marlborough Road, a 3-bedroom detached propety which became No. 9.

This big building was a roller skating rink known as the "Glider-drome after 1945. I learned to roller-skate there from 1947 onwards for a couple of years. Don't know what it was named before 1939, though. After the War, there was a kind of Arcade conta9ning small shops which made a direct connection from the esplanade to the Glider-drome Entrance. I recall that on the LHS of the Esplanade-end entrance to the Arcade, during the summers a Modeller in Glass had a little shop, where he would craft pieces for you while you waited.
