Site under clearance in 1928 for the London Fruit Exchange, at the southern side of Spitalfields Market, Tower Hamlets. The building was to be erected to the designs of the Architect to the City, Sydney Perks, who had designed the now-completed western extension of Spitalfields Market. This Market Extension was opened by Queen Mary on 23 November, 1928. Spitalfields's Fruit Exchange was opened on October 30, 1929. In 1934 a Flower Market building was added to Spitalfields Market on the northern side. In 1991 the City Corporation, who had acquired Spitalfields Market in 1920, closed the wholesale fruit and vegetable market and moved the traders out, further east to Leyton. In 2003-2008, the 1928 Extension and the 1934 Flower Market were demolished. Currently, the 1929 London Fruit (and Wool) Exchange is threatened with demolition - approved by Boris Johnson in 2012, using his powers as Mayor for London. This is despite huge opposition as 60% of Spitalfields Market has already been demolished.

The goods yards of the North London Railway next to Broad Street Station are perhaps the closest open yards to a London Passenger terminus. To the south of the River such yards were unknown, freight traffic being dealt with at separate locations such as Nine Elms and Bricklayers Arms. North of the river there were large goods sheds (at Paddington) and covered depots under station (St Pancras for Burtons Beer and now the departure area for Eurostar) and open yards immediately to the north of the station (at Kings Cross). The St Pancras coal yard is the most notable one next to the passenger station. The situation of such yard is an interesting piece of location geography being based on the delivery potential to the city of the horse and cart.

Bishopsgate Goods Station (Yard or Depot) of the Great Eastern Railway, which was destroyed by fire in 1964. To maximise the use of this large space much of the depot included tracks on two levels linked by wagon hoists. The site is now traversed by the new (2010) East London Line, which connects with the lines running into the long closed Broad Street Station,

Large white building on Nth side of Finsbury Circus is Park House. I used to work in this building for Centre-File, one of the early computer bureau's in 1969 to 1972. Oval Park in the centre used to have visiting bands during summer, Met Police band etc. Eldon street runs to the rear, left exit of circus runs into Moorgate.
