This is a unique photo for speedway fans. After speedway was introduced in February 1928 at High Beech, Epping Forest, Greenford was opened for a short time as a speedway track later that year and at the time this photo was taken. There were very few photos taken at Greenford and this collection certainly brings the track to life. |

In 1919 the London Trotting Club opened this track at Greenford Park and it became the premier venue for trotting races in the south of England. In 1928 the Ealing & District Motorcycle Club made it a pioneer speedway venue - one of the earliest in the country. |
