The patron Saint is Anne (with an E), mother of Mary, but the church is named Ann without an E after the patron Ann, Lady Bland. Consecrated in 1712, when it was in the Diocese of Chester. When Manchester was given its own Cathedral this church automatically transferred to the new Manchester diocese. Now a Grade 1 listed church. |

This view is looking towards the North, with the main vertical road to the left being Deansgate and to the right, Cross Street. The central stub is St Anns Square. Many of the buildings remain in 2012 although the area immediately North of the Royal Exchange building was devastated by an IRA bomb in the 90's. |
