Private siding to Crossley Engines, went out of the works, and across Clayton Lane south, then up a steep bank into Ashburys yard. By Barney Rubble.

Ashbury Works, beyond the Crossley site, closed in 1925 and the buildings were later demolished. The premises were redeveloped as Ardwick East Goods Depot by the London & North Eastern Railway. In 2012 the environmental company SLR Consulting has carried out an archaeological dig and located the works furnaces - the company also built bridges. Ashbury built rolling stock, much of it wooden-bodied, for the independent railways before the 1923 Grouping. Some export work was undertaken too. After 1925 production moved to Birmingham
