The buildings are the "hutments". These were built by the army as a training camp for the first world war. They were later used for resettling families from the slums in Manchester, and in the second world war were used by the RAF. The White HeatherCamp was located behind these hutments. After the second world war the site was used for one of the prefab estates, althouth the Territorial Army kept a few buildings for some years. |
