| Site of the 1906 Swindon tram disaster. Tramcar No 11, overloaded and with faulty brakes ran away down Victoria Hill and failed to make the turn at the bottom. Four people died in the crash and a fifth later from injuries. |

Sorry, but this is Medgbury Road which ran parallel to the north of the W&B Canal. The lake probably fooled you, like Queen's Park lake it formed in a former clay pit. |
