The Imperial burnt down on 20th October 1949 when I was two. My Dad was the manager and he saved mine and my mother's lives by carrying us along a six inch ledge three stories up on the outside of the building to room away from the flames. We were rescued from there by the fire brigade but two people trapped behind us died.

Alhambra Theatre Built 1901. Still stands and is in use, but ceased to be a theatre after being gutted by a fire in 1970.

It was The Imperial Hotel that burnt down. I know...I was in it.
