The Midland Railway Company's Stroud (Wallbridge) Station. This rather obscure station, on a branch line off another branch line was a victim of the Beeching closures. Rather surprisingly perhaps, the timber buildings survived until the mid 1980s when the whole area was cleared for the construction of the Stroud east/west by-pass. |

We can't blame Dr Beeching for every railway closure. Wallbridge lost its passenger service in June 1947, before nationalisation took effect and long before Dr B arrived at BR. |
