The Majestic cinema. In the late 1940s early 50s there was a very enjoyable Saturday morning childrens' film club showing weekly instalments of cowboy films etc. Very rowdy, but great fun.

Mitcham Public Library. In the 1940s-50s it had a nice warm Reading Room with all the daily newspapers properly arranged on near-vertical display tables. An excellent library so different from those of 2015.
