Balls Hill Branch, Wednesbury Old Canal, the first canal to be cut in the Black Country (1769). This was filled in about 1960. Here seen snaking its way through Golds Hill.
This picture is remarkable in that it shows almost the entire length of this branch, from the terminus just off Tunnel Road, alongside Brickhouse Lane, where it ran parallel and as far as Swan Village.
