This building was a 'Pains Fireworks' magazine. I Think it later became property belonging to Standard fireworks, why it was here, I do not know. By Barney Rubble.

Here is Admiralty street. With street railway connection between Baguley Fold mainline LMS/BR sidings,Stuart street power station, Clayton Aniline works, then the Admiralty premises, across Clayton Lane, and on through English Steel works site, thence into Asburys LNER/BR sidings via the Wood st railway; parts of the track still in situ there in 2014. (see other pics/markers on here and Google Earth for modern images, track is in Wood st. on south side of Ashton Old Rd). By Barney Rubble.

Wood street.The connecting railway from Ashburys sidings ran across Ashton Old Road, along Wood St. and in to the English Steel Corp. works, through the gates to the left of this marker. Last used in late 60' or early 70's. Some track on south side of Ashton Old Rd. still in situ, 2014.
