| 6 Pearson Street: At the time this photo was taken in 1947 it was the home of the brothers David and Peter Dawson. This year they were to part and not meet again for over 35 years.

This mill, known as the International Cotton Waste was damaged by a large fire shortly after this photograph was taken. As a result a large section of the building was demolished and the remainder of the roof replaced. The residents of Wood Street and Railway View had to evacuated during the fire. Fire engines from as far away as Stockport attended and water was drawn from the nearby canal after the reservoirs ran dry. Information provided by the Globe Lane Pals |
