Number 77 Willis Street. My father was born here August 1928. My grandparents had rented half the house around 1920. By the time they were rehoused early 1939 they had nine children in two rooms. At the end of the street on the corner with St Leonard's Road was Adams the undertakers. My nan rented a room from him and three of my aunts slept there. The family were rehoused early 1939 to a five bedroom flat on the Isle of Dogs.

Spratt's biscuit factory. Today the long chimneys have been cut off and some of the roofs have visibly been reshaped. Spratt's factory was making dog biscuits. Built around 1899 and active until the late sixties, the building is still standing and has now been converted into flats.
