Red,white and black funnel identifies this as a former member of the Laird Line fleet,which had merged in 1922 with G&J Burns to form Burns & Laird Lines. It may well be SS "Turnberry" of 1889 which had formerly belonged to the Ayr Steam Shipping Co Ltd and would be renamed "Lairdsheather" in 1929. Broken up in 1937 |

This was - and perhaps still is - a coal export port. Note the sidings with long lines of full coal trucks and colliers in the harbour |
