This dyeing and bleaching works belonged to my great-grandfather Robert Clay, who started it, I believe, in about 1890. He lived nearby at Sharston Hall. He died in 1914, and his sons, including my grandfather George Vernon Clay carried on the business until about 1926 when this photo was taken. Any more information about Robert Clay or the business would be welcome. John Clay |
