It was taken over by the Government late in the First World War for making Aeroplanes, but when handed back it was bought by another company, and re-named 'Ace' where it then began spinning cotton, the steam engines and boilers were left packed on site until the mill was ready for cotton spinning and then installed for use until 1967 when the engine was scrapped
