Burrator Dam completed in 1898 to create the reservoir to supply Plymouth and surrounding areas with water. Also shown is the suspension bridge which was dismantled shortly after this photo was taken. The suspension bridge was constructed temporarily to give access to the other bank whilst 10 feet was added to the concrete dam height to increse the capacity of Burrator Reservoir. The suspension bridge was dismantled in September 1928, just after this photo was taken. '
