' Note there is no bridge under the railway here. This would wait for the LCC tramways to constuct the extention along the southern section of Westhorne Avenue. On the otherside of "the bridge" the extention was underway and would open on 1st October 1931. The rest would be completed and opened on 30th June 1932. As this was the time of the Great Depression with many unemployed The LCC qualifies for a special grant which stipulated that 12% of the labour force should be from the unemployed in the London area, and a further 12% from those residing in a depressed mining area. To take the fullest advantage of the grant's terms The LCC sub-contracted the work to Woolwich Borough Council. '
