My father was involved in the development here at the time - the construction was severely delayed by the bad winter that preceded the Floods of 1947 - and he was concerned about how to keep 200 men in work when construction was halted. It is rumoured that former Italian prisoners of war were involved in the construction and that there was a construction camp near to Queen Anne's Gate but so far no photos have emerged. During the war this area was a coal dump. This photo would have been taken about one month after the floods subsided (although this area was unaffected). There is more here. http://theroyalwindsorforum.yuku.com/topic/1153 and here http://theroyalwindsorforum.yuku.com/topic/1235/ EDIT: It has since been established that the construction camp was adjacent to Stag Meadow Football Ground and that some of the accommodation huts remained for a number of years afterwards beside the ground. Confirmation of this would be welcome!

There was certainly a labour camp of Nissen huts just inside Queen Anne's Gate in 1948. A friend was given a hand written poem by one of the workers, which included his home address in Kirkby-in-Ashfields in Notts. The workers temporary address was : Labour Camp Hut 7A, Queen Anne's Gate, Windsor Great Park.

Two Ack-Ack platforms with a nearby Nissen hut for the personnel plus a smaller one, presumably for ammunition and stores.

The Stag and Hounds, derelict as of 2014, which is, to say the least, a shame. It is one of the oldest structures in Windsor, apart from a certain castle!
