Briton Ferry Dock. The Inner Dock opened in 1861 and was later taken over by the Great Western Railway. The Brunels were involved, with R P Brereton, with the design of the lock gate and its accumulator tower which worked the hydraulic equipment associated with the gate. The tower has been preserved, virtually the last remnant of this development. The dock closed in 1959 |
