NB there is an error describing this as a Gorsedd stone circle. There was one in Pontypridd, on the Common (erected 1893), but this is not it. This is in Treforest on the site of the South Wales and Monmouthshire School of Mines. This was erected by a local industrialist, with an interest in Druid ceremonies, Francis Crawshay. 'Y Garreg Siglo' is Welsh for 'the Rocking Stone' and this IS on the common in Pontypridd and it was at the centre of the Gorsedd circle, this is just the wrong photo. |
