It appears some of the neighbours have built viewing platforms to see over the high fence. The fence has not only cut off the view but also the sun from the south west facing backs of this row of terrace houses.

This stand was at the WEST end of the Vetch Field. There was no stand at the East end of the Vetch - known as the William Street bank.

The Vecth field is in the Sandfields, Swansea not St Thomas (which is east of the river).
