Geordie Beattie lived here across the road in Haughton Ave from my grandfather. George started by driving his first lorry during the day, and driving Alexanders buses in the evening, I can remember getting alift in his Ford V8 Pilot at lunchtime and meeting him in later years in The Gordon Arms Hotel in Banknock, where we had a few wee drams.

This area was called Gilleses Land in the 1881 census, it may be of interest to the Hutchison Baird and Webster families both here and in the USA as they lived next door to one another and intermarried, before most of them moved abroad.

Hello,

I am one of the Baird descendants and am having difficulty placing this photo on a current day map. Not sure what I am missing...something simple probably.
