This is the split in the Monkland Canal - the Cuilhill Gullet. The island was fed by rail - according to the old Ordnance Survey 25" maps - and presumably coal was loaded onto barges for onward delivery. The aircraft is in vicinity 55 52.3N 004 07.9W flying 190/010T and looking easterly on a bearing of 100T towards Coatbridge. |
