The multi-storey office block, Tayside House, for the Tayside Regional Council, was built here in the 1970s. It, like the much older Tay Hotel, is now due to be demolished |

The statement about the Tay Hotel is factually incorrect. The Tay Hotel lay vacant from 1997, however Malmaison chose this landmark building for it's 13th luxury hotel and have refurbished it and given a date of 01 December 2013 when it will be open for business. Below is some historical information pertaining to this building: The Tay Hotel, (formerly Mathers Temperance Hotel), is a B Listed Building and was designed by architect Robert Hunter with his plans for the hotel being approved on 18 October 1897 for a Mr John Harris. Here's one from Old Dundee Streets and Wynds showing Dock Street, the Customs House, and the building with the curved roof was Dundee east station. We had 2 stations, west and east, quarter mile apart and on the same line. Probably built by different railway companies. |

Dundee had three central area railway stations. Two, East and West were terminals and therefore not linked. The third station was Tay Bridge (the current Dundee Station) the only through station. |
