Road leading down to Westerton and Drummuir Castle which lies some 3.5 miles NE of Dufftown on the B9014. The photo taken of the north eastern ridge line above the Burn of Drumhendry was I presume to show the storm damage to the conifer plantation made during the storm of 31 Jan - 01 Feb 1953. The aircraft was flying in an east/west direction with the photo shot looking north. Google Earth shows quite some dramatic land usage changes since 1953 - photo attached. The bottom left hand corner of the wood in the foreground is the only part that remains today. However, more conifers have been planted on the western side of the road. |
