Kinfauns Castle served as an hotel in its recent past. Ann Gloag bought the estate for £4m in about 2006. She has enclosed it within a seven-foot high security fence, topped with barbed wire |

The estate now belongs to Ann Gloag, a founder of the transport company Stagecoach. The castle stands on the site of a medieval strongehold; it was designed by Smirke and constructed in the years 1822-1826. Lord Gray was its first owner. A Union Castle steamship, launched in 1899, was named after Kinfauns Castle and served as an armed merchant vessel in World War I |
