The rectangular white object towards the bottom left is the present Town House (local council offices)in the early stage of construction. The present day bus station is allotments. Clealy one house in Whytescauseway was demolished to make way for the extension of Park Place behind the Town House to Hunter Street. The adjacent house was St Olafs orphanage.

The Whyte House (very recently demolished) was one of the first mansions in Kirkcaldy, a very historic building, but seen by very few people. If you magnify the photo centering on the embryo Town House then below and slightly to the right is a building with a light coloured roof. That gable, with "Rossleigh Garage and Repairs" signed on it, marks the entrance to an area which contained the said garage, the Carlton bakehouse and, more importantly, The Whyte House. It is clearly shown in the photo, with an appropriate whitewashed front, but completely hidden from both Whytescauseway and the High Street, a far cry from when it was built and carriages would sweep up and down the driveways from and to the High Street.

In the top middle is a double white line which looks like a runway. This is Cedar Avenue in the Smeaton and to the left what looks like tents are the post war pre-fabs at Whytemans Brae.
