Fascinating to compare this with the an aerial view today. I realise they moved people out to the New Suburbs - but very little housing has been replaced here. It maybe arguable as to whether some of this housing was "Slum" housing. I'm not rewriting history, there was some appalling housing around, but folk that have been interviewed claimed they kept their houses spick and span and the "Slum" Label was just that. A bit of Politicians Spin to grab some useful land. |
