Kitchen garden producing food for the Abbey. George Buckle worked here for Mrs Russell. Later this area was cleared to make way for a car park for visitors to the Abbey. The greenhouse was demolished. This area is now part of the rose garden.

This area of garden retained by Mrs Russell after handing the Abbey over to the National Trust. In the evenings she would walk here from Northend House and sit in the garden.

This structure no longer exists. Now a gateway. Entrance was used by Mrs Russell to access her private garden, now part of the NT Rose Garden.

We think this structure could have been some sort of water tower / tank for watering the plants in the walled garden - there may not have been a water supply to this part of the garden at this time, so having a rain water tank would make sense. Being high off the ground would provide water pressure .
