Churchill (not Churchills) swimming pool, now superseded by Hemel Hempstead Sport Centre, was an important part of life from May to September. It was by far the best outdoor pool in Hertfordshire, sadly now much diminished in size from the original Olympic-sized pool with diving boards at 1, 3 and 5 metres plus a cafe where we would get a cup of bovril on a cold day! |
